You Don’t Have to Struggle Alone

As you get older, the problems in your life can seem to get bigger and scarier. When you were younger, there might have been someone who would take on your struggles for you, but now you have to face more of these challenges without help from others. Yet, God is still in control, even when your problems seem like too much to handle. You are never alone. When life is heavy, we only have to turn to God in order to get some relief. Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Jesus has compassion on us, and He calls us to follow Him instead of striving on our own. Because of what Jesus has done—dying on the cross and rising from the dead—we can be with God. Once we put our trust in Jesus, He sends the Holy Spirit to live inside us as our Helper, Counselor, Comforter, and Advocate. The Holy Spirit reminds us of everything Jesus has said and transforms us so we can love others as Jesus has loved us. When I feel like I have to do things on my own, I need to be reminded that God is there and I am never really alone. Even if I don’t have a human to turn to for help, I have a God who goes with me through all that I have to face. Nothing is too heavy or difficult for God. When you are faced with struggles, you can turn to God for help. Your life is probably not going to be easy. Most of us face some type of hard times. But even though we will have trouble in this world, we have an unshakable hope because Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33). And He has promised, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). When you are in the midst of a difficult experience, you can know that God is with you. • Emily Acker • Do you ever feel all alone in life? We don’t always get the support we need from the people around us. But God sees us, and He loves us. We never grow out of needing Him, and He never gets tired of being there for us. • What problems or struggles are you facing today? How might God be inviting you to rely on His help in this situation? God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 (WEB)
