Trusting Jesus for the future can be hard during the teen years. For many of us, at age six, trusting God was all we knew, but we have long outgrown that stage. Now, it’s often harder to fully trust God and His plan. Our minds may be flooded with questions daily, which we force ourselves to push aside so we can act like everything is okay. But honestly, it’s okay to be confused, need help, and ask questions. Ignoring important questions doesn’t help us grow in our faith, and we aren’t the only ones asking them. Even Moses questioned God’s calling for his life (Exodus 3:9-14). We all come to the point in our lives where we can’t stop thinking about our purpose, wondering what God wants for us. Remember: wherever God calls you, He will guide you and always be with you through the power of His Holy Spirit living in you. Delight in God in your actions and honor Him in all you do. As you try to discern God’s purpose for your life, ask Jesus questions, listen to Him, and pray endlessly. Ask trusted Christian adults where they think God is calling you, remembering God can speak to us through the people He has put in our lives. We have an awesome God who walks with us every step of every day, so don’t be ashamed to turn to Him to pray for guidance and a clear state of mind. He’s not afraid of questions. Just remember, you don’t have to be a pastor to shine God’s light; you can spread the gospel no matter what God has in store. • McKinley Tyson • Who can you talk to about the questions you have about God and your future? • What are you passionate about? Do you think Jesus is calling you to work in that area? • How can you honor God wherever you are in life? But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)
