“No one cares what happens to me,” you mumble, wrinkling up the paper you’d been writing on. “What’s the point of even trying?” We’ve all had times when it felt like it was us against the world. We had a problem we needed to tackle, and we didn’t feel any support from anyone as we tried to take it on. We’ve all had times when we’ve felt alone and like no one really understands what we’re going through or cares about what happens to us. In times when you feel like no one cares, God does. In times when you feel like you’re battling alone, God is with you. There is no one better to have on your side than the God who sees all that is happening and is with you no matter where you go. There is no one better to have on your side than the One who made you and cares about you deeply. We face many tough situations in this life, but we have a God who goes to battle for us. In Psalm 9, David writes about God defeating his enemies for him, and that same God is on our side when we feel alone. This Psalm looks forward to when God would come and live among us. Jesus defeated the enemy when He died on the cross and rose from the dead to save us. If we’ve put our trust in Jesus, we can know He is with us no matter what. And we can look forward to the day Jesus will return, and sin and all its effects will be no more. Until that day, the Holy Spirit reminds us God is present with us in every moment, including this one. • Emily Acker • Do you ever feel like it’s you against the world and no one is around to support you? • Can you think of a time you felt sure God was with you? If so, consider taking a moment to thank Him for this. If not, you can ask Him to let you know He’s with you anytime. Yahweh, your God, is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 (WEB)
